On Saturday we decided, a little late in the afternoon, that we should load up our four-wheelers, pack a cooler and head off somewhere new. Nate and Dianna had told us about a trip they took out to five mile pass and that they liked it, so why not-it isn't too far away. It was actually quite a bit different than what I was expecting, tons of people out there riding everywhere, but we didn't mind too much. We just found a different spot off the beaten path, and headed off on some trails from there. It was a lot of fun, probably not the type of terrain that Rivers prefers, unfortunately we gave up the convenience of the red sand when we moved 5 hours north of So. Utah. All the same we rode long enough for me to have to switch my gas tank to reserve.
I have some pic's of us making fire without matches, and if I can ever figure out how to get the video to work I will post a video of it. Honestly, that was probably the highlight of our little outing. See, about a week ago Jason (Julia's brother) demonstrated how to make a fire with a bow and spindle. He said that I was a pretty good student since I was able to make fire on my first try, but I figure he was just a good teacher. Anyway, he let us borrow some of his stuff and we used it on Saturday night to make us a campfire. It really is fun, and somehow reassuring that if need be, we have the knowledge to start a fire.
Too bad as we were loading up to head home we realized that the truck had a flat!! Darn my driving. Rivers was a champ though, and had that baby changed in no time and it was still a great night. Here are a few pic's.

Looks like quite the adventure! I can't even tell you how crazy it makes me that we don't have a truck to take off into the wilderness with. Someday...
You were a great student. I don't think I could do it, and I've watched Jason demo it twice now. Stinks about the truck, but it wouldn't be normal life if everything worked out perfectly.
I love your new layout.
How lucky that you two can just take off whenever you want, enjoy that while you can! Looks like such a fun trip!
